In early June, the Association of Central Securities Depositories of Eurasia (AECSD) held an annual training seminar for its participants. The event was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Discussing important issues at annual meetings is a regular format of the Association’s work; it allows improving its participants’ knowledge of other countries’ record keeping systems, identifying principal work areas, and coordinating joint activities for developing and integrating financial markets.
Thirty representatives of nine countries (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, and South Korea) attended the event.
The meeting was held in the form of a seminar where all participants shared their experience in certain areas. The guests discussed events that were crucial for infrastructure, and the most important challenges they faced.
Among the seminar’s topics were different areas of CSD and securities market operations: the development of cash and securities settlements, E-voting and electronic interaction channel options, post-trade services, including collateral management, service bureaus, information and repository services. The participants also discussed the servicing of government securities and attracting foreign investors.
Key priorities of all the participants include the improvement of the service quality, the upgrade of risk management systems, increased financial stability and operational reliability.
